HR Manager, Montego Bay, Jamaica

Jamaica. Permanent role with Thatcher Associates, the specialist hospitality desk.

Jamaica Permanent Hospitality Posted 2 October 2026

About the role

Competitive salary · head office role · immediate start

Are you the HR professional managers turn to when a disciplinary, grievance or Ministry of Labour matter needs handling properly? Would you like to be the senior HR person on the ground, with real autonomy, in a group that is still growing across the region?

The opportunity
Our client is a well-established, multinational food and beverage group with a multi-site, shift-based operation across several Caribbean markets and its head office in Jamaica. They are appointing an HR Manager to lead the people function on the ground, working alongside their Regional HR Manager and senior leadership.

This is a new, hands-on appointment. You would be the senior HR presence at head office and across the Jamaican operation, trusted to handle employee relations, compliance and people strategy with a high degree of autonomy. It suits an experienced HR generalist who knows Caribbean employment law in depth and is as comfortable advising senior leaders as resolving issues with frontline teams.

What you will be doing

  • Leading the full employee lifecycle for head office and site teams: recruitment, onboarding, performance management, development and exits
  • Managing employee relations, including disciplinary, grievance and capability processes, investigations and, where needed, matters before the Ministry of Labour and Social Security or the Industrial Disputes Tribunal
  • Keeping the business compliant with Jamaican labour law, including the Labour Relations and Industrial Disputes Act, termination and redundancy, minimum wage, and NIS, NHT, HEART and PAYE
  • Advising managers on policy, contracts, scheduling, overtime and payroll across multiple sites
  • Rolling out group HR policies and systems locally, and reporting on headcount, turnover and absence
  • Building training, engagement, recognition and retention programmes that support service standards and reduce turnover
  • Supporting new site openings with workforce planning and volume recruitment

What you will need

  • At least 10 years' HR experience in the Caribbean
  • Full, practical knowledge of Caribbean labour law, with Jamaican legislation essential
  • A proven record of HR leadership within Caribbean companies
  • Experience supporting multi-site, shift-based teams, including volume recruitment
  • Food and beverage, quick-service restaurant, retail or hospitality experience would be a real advantage, as would a degree or HR qualification such as CIPD or SHRM

What is on offer

  • A competitive salary, negotiable depending on experience
  • A senior, standalone HR role at head office with real influence
  • A multinational business with a growing Caribbean footprint
  • Further benefits confirmed at interview

The practical detail
The role is on site at head office in Montego Bay and is not remote. If you live outside Montego Bay, you would need to commute or relocate, and a relocation allowance is not expected. The client wants someone to start as soon as possible and will move quickly. We would rather you knew that up front than found out at offer stage.
