The opportunity
Our client, a construction business, is hiring an estimator or senior estimator to work remotely from Texas. They are not named at this stage because the search is confidential. We will tell you who they are before putting you forward.
This is a role for someone who wants the whole estimate rather than a slice of it. You will take projects from the first set of drawings to a submitted number, with the rest of the pre-construction team a call away rather than across the office.
What you will be doing
- Taking off quantities and building estimates by CSI division from drawings, specifications and addenda
- Soliciting, scoping and levelling subcontractor and supplier pricing, and chasing coverage ahead of bid day
- Pricing hard bid and negotiated work across a range of project sizes
- Writing clear qualifications, clarifications and exclusions so the number holds up after award
- Feeding VE options and budget updates back to owners and design teams
What you will need
- A solid track record estimating with a GC, CM or specialty contractor
- Confident takeoff using software such as Bluebeam Revu or On-Screen Takeoff
- Clear written communication, because most of your working day will run through email, Teams and phone
- To be based in Texas
Familiarity with any of Sage Estimating, Destini Estimator, WinEst, STACK or Procore would help. CPE or a construction management degree is a plus, not a requirement. The level of the appointment, and the scope of bids you lead, will reflect your experience.
