The opportunity

Our client is an established infrastructure and construction group delivering civil projects across the Bahamian islands. They are adding a Setting Out / Survey Engineer to support live works, providing the survey control that keeps construction accurate and on programme.

This is a site based role with real autonomy. You will be the person the site team relies on for setting out and levels, working across civil infrastructure packages and answering directly to the design and construction teams when queries come up. It suits a surveyor who is comfortable being the only survey presence on site and making decisions without waiting to be told.

What you will be doing

• Setting out, levelling and surveying across live civil infrastructure works
• Establishing and maintaining survey control, and issuing setting out information to the site team
• Producing earthworks volume calculations, including cut and fill quantities
• Checking works as built against design and raising discrepancies early with the design team
• Liaising with the construction team day to day to keep works accurate, compliant and to programme

What you will need

• Proven, hands on experience with robotic total stations and GPS survey systems, plus laser levels and dumpy levels
• The ability to set out a site independently using any or all of the above
• Strong working knowledge of Civil 3D and AutoCAD
• Experience producing earthworks volume calculations

Experience on island or in a remote location, and exposure to marine or coastal civils, would be useful but is not essential.
