The Opportunity:
An established civil engineering principal contractor working across the South West and Midlands, delivering a varied portfolio of infrastructure, highways, industrial and commercial, flood defence, and bridges and structures projects for local authorities, national frameworks, and private developers projects up to the value of £20 million.
They are looking for a Civil Engineering Project Manager to take full responsibility for the delivery of projects based primarily in Gloucestershire, with management of projects in the Midlands as workload demands. This role suits an experienced civils project manager who is comfortable running a site from start to finish and confident managing programme, budget, quality and safety without close supervision.
What you will be doing:
  • Managing the day-to-day delivery of civil engineering projects from mobilisation through to handover
  • Planning and monitoring programme, ensuring works stay on track and any delays are managed proactively
  • Managing project budgets and cost control, working closely with the commercial team
  • Leading site teams and subcontractors, ensuring works are delivered safely and to specification
  • Liaising directly with clients, consultants and statutory bodies throughout the project lifecycle
  • Ensuring compliance with health, safety and environmental requirements across all sites
What you will need:
  • Proven project management experience within civil engineering, ideally with a principal contractor
  • Strong programme, budget and site management skills
  • SMSTS and CSCS (or equivalent), with a full UK driving licence given the travel across Gloucestershire and the Midlands
  • Confident communicator, comfortable managing client and stakeholder relationships directly
  • A degree or HNC in civil engineering, construction management or a related discipline would be an advantage, though relevant hands on project management experience will also be considered.
