Chief Engineer

St.Lucia. Permanent role with Thatcher Associates, the specialist resort engineering desk.

St.Lucia Permanent Resort Engineering Posted 25 August 2026

About the role

Chief Engineer, luxury all-inclusive resort (St Lucia)
St Lucia | Salary competitive, dependent on experience
The Opportunity:
Our client operates a well established, adults only, all-inclusive luxury resort group with multiple properties in St Lucia. The Chief Engineer leads the full engineering and maintenance function for the property, with genuine accountability for keeping a large, high occupancy resort running to a five star standard around the clock.

This is a senior technical leadership role for someone who is comfortable balancing hands on problem solving with longer term planning around capital works, budgets and compliance. You will lead a sizeable engineering team and act as the resort’s primary authority on building systems, safety and maintenance standards.

What you will be doing:
  • Leading and developing the engineering and maintenance team across the property
  • Managing preventative maintenance programmes across guest rooms, public areas, pools and back of house systems
  • Overseeing capital projects, refurbishment and renovation works in coordination with senior management
  • Managing the engineering budget, including labour, contractors and materials
  • Ensuring compliance with local health, safety and building regulations
  • Managing energy, water and utilities systems with a focus on efficiency
What you will need:
  • Proven Chief Engineer or Director of Engineering experience at a large, high occupancy hotel or resort
  • Strong technical knowledge across HVAC, electrical, plumbing and pool plant systems
  • Demonstrable experience managing capital projects and contractor relationships
  • Strong people leadership skills, with experience managing a multi disciplinary technical team
  • Experience within a Caribbean or island based resort environment would be a strong advantage.
What is on offer:
  • Competitive salary, dependent on experience
  • Live in or live out options considered
  • Senior leadership position within a well established resort operation
The practical detail:
This is a large, high occupancy resort environment, so the role carries genuine scale and pressure compared with a boutique property. Work permit sponsorship for non-local candidates is available, subject to St Lucia’s local labour market processes, which can affect start dates.
