Electrical Testing Engineer (Inspection & Testing)

Northampton/ Leicester | £42,000 to £46,000 basic, £60,000 OTE | Company van and fuel card

Our client is an established electrical testing and remedial specialist, working across commercial and industrial sites throughout the Nottingham and Leicester area. As demand for their inspection and testing work grows, they are looking to add an experienced Electrical Testing Engineer to their team.

This is a mobile role for someone who is comfortable working independently, confident across single and three-phase installations, and takes pride in getting a report right first time. You will be given a company van, fuel card, and all the specialist test equipment you need, and left to manage your own day within your patch.

What you will be doing

• Completing Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICRs) across commercial and industrial properties, working confidently with both single and three-phase installations
• Carrying out electrical repairs and minor remedial works at client sites, keeping installations compliant with BS 7671
• Fault finding on three-phase systems as part of your day to day testing and remedial work
• Travelling to sites across your regional patch, typically 1 to 1.5 hours from base, and managing your own workload once there

What you will need

• NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation
• AM2
• 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671)
• An Inspection & Testing qualification (2391, 2394 or 2395)
• Proven experience completing commercial EICR testing and remedial works
• Experience with three-phase installations and fault finding
• A full UK driving licence, and willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check

An ECS or JIB Gold Card, IPAF or PASMA certification would be an advantage, though further training can be provided where needed.

What is on offer

• £42,000 to £46,000 basic, depending on experience, with realistic OTE of £60,000 through overtime
• Overtime paid at 1.25x Monday to Friday and 1.5x at weekends, once you exceed 50 hours in a week

The practical detail

The role is based on a 45 hour week, with 1 hour of unpaid travel time built into each day and a 30 minute paid lunch break. Overtime only kicks in once you go over 50 hours in a week, so it is worth knowing that before you apply. We would rather you knew that up front than found out at offer stage.
