Birmingham Permanent Trades & Maintenance Posted 11 August 2026

About the role

Ansul Fire Suppression Engineer (field based, UK wide)

UK wide (field based) | £32,000 to £35,000 per annum (DOE), plus premium rate for unsociable hours | Company vehicle, 25 days holiday plus bank holidays and your birthday off

The opportunity

Our client is a fire suppression contractor operating nationally, installing, servicing and maintaining Ansul fire suppression systems for clients across the UK. Off the back of continued demand, they're looking to add an engineer to their field based team.

This is a hands-on role that suits someone who's happy working from technical drawings and system schematics, diagnosing faults on the move, and dealing directly with clients on site. If you've come from Ansul systems already, that's ideal. If your background is plumbing, pipework or mechanical engineering and you're keen to specialise, the client will train you up, including a refresher if your Ansul certification has lapsed.

What you will be doing

  • Installing, servicing and maintaining Ansul fire suppression systems (R102 and Piranha), in line with UL300 and LPS1223 standards
  • Delivering and installing company products accurately, working from technical drawings and system schematics
  • Diagnosing and resolving system faults and breakdowns, responding promptly to call outs
  • Providing a high standard of on-site customer service, handling technical queries with clarity and professionalism

What you will need

  • A solid background in plumbing, pipework or mechanical engineering, and comfort working from technical drawings and schematics
  • A willingness to travel to client sites across the UK and work unsociable hours when needed

Ansul certification (on R102 and Piranha, to UL300 and LPS1223 standards) is a strong advantage, as is a CSCS card or similar site safety certification, though the client will support you into either if you don't already hold them, along with full training on fire safety regulations specific to Ansul systems.

What is on offer

  • £32,000 to £35,000 per annum, depending on experience
  • Premium rate for unsociable hours
  • Company vehicle, with reasonable personal use
  • 25 days holiday plus bank holidays, and your birthday off
  • Company pension
  • Phone and uniform provided

The practical detail

This is a field based role covering client sites across the UK, so regular travel and occasional unsociable hours call outs are part of the job.
