Bristol Permanent Further Education & Skills Posted 30 July 2026

About the role

Electrical Trainer and Assessor

Thatcher Associates Greater Bristol Area,

Electrical Trainer and Assessor, North Bristol, up to £42,000

Come off the tools without losing the trade. This is a chance to pass on 20 years of site experience to the next generation of electricians, with a training provider that funds every qualification you need to get there.

The role

You will teach and assess apprentices against the 5357 Installation Electrician Level 3 standard, working from a North Bristol centre with easy access from the M4 and M5. The work splits between classroom delivery, on-site assessment visits, reviewing electronic portfolios, and getting each learner properly ready for their End Point Assessment.

You will work one to one and in groups, so communication and the ability to motivate people matter as much as technical knowledge. All portfolios are electronic, so you need to be comfortable with IT.

About the client

One of the South West's leading independent training providers, delivering apprenticeships and commercial training across business, healthcare, childcare and trades, including electrical, plumbing and gas, and fire and security. Apprenticeship achievement rates are among the highest in the region, with several programmes hitting 100% in recent years.

They are moving into new markets and regions while holding onto the delivery standards that got them there, so there is real scope to shape how the trades provision grows.

What you need

  • NVQ Level 3 in electrical installation
  • A minimum of 5 years on the tools
  • A full driving licence and your own vehicle
  • Enhanced DBS check (arranged by the client)

A teaching or assessing qualification is useful but not required. If you do not hold a Level 3 testing qualification, a JIB card at Electrician grade or an assessor award, the client will arrange and fund all of it during your induction.

Package

Up to £42,000, 26 days holiday plus bank holidays and a paid Christmas closure, mileage at 50p per mile, company pension, life insurance, cycle to work scheme, employee assistance programme and on-site parking.
