We are now looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Electrical Tutor to join our Engineering and Construction department.
The Role
As Electrical Tutor, you will deliver engaging, high-quality teaching and training to learners across a range of electrical installation courses, from Level 1 through to Level 3, including apprenticeship provision. You will play a key role in preparing students for successful careers in the electrical industry, ensuring teaching reflects current industry standards and practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare and deliver theory and practical electrical installation lessons to a range of learners and ability levels
- Deliver City & Guilds / EAL qualifications (e.g. Level 2/3 Diploma in Electrical Installation, 18th Edition Wiring Regulations, AM2)
- Assess learner work and provide constructive, timely feedback in line with awarding body requirements
- Monitor and track learner progress, attendance and achievement
- Maintain a safe working environment in workshops, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations
- Support apprentices and their employers, including workplace visits where required
- Keep up to date with developments in electrical installation practice, regulations and technology
- Contribute to course development, curriculum planning and quality improvement
- Act as a positive role model, promoting high standards of professionalism and industry best practice
About You
- A recognised electrical qualification (e.g. NVQ Level 3 Electrical Installation, City & Guilds 2365/2360, or equivalent) and relevant industry experience
- Hold, or be willing to work towards, a teaching qualification (e.g. PGCE, Cert Ed, or Level 3/4 Award/Certificate in Education and Training)
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations qualification (essential)
- Strong up-to-date knowledge of current electrical installation practices and regulations
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage and motivate learners of different abilities
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of learners
Desirable:
- Assessor qualification (e.g. TAQA, A1/D32-33)
- Experience delivering apprenticeship standards
- Experience with EAL/City & Guilds moderation and internal quality assurance
