A major organisation within the Bahamian utilities and infrastructure sector is seeking an experienced Vegetation Foreman to lead crews responsible for safe and efficient vegetation management around utility corridors and energized infrastructure. This role is essential to maintaining system reliability, preventing service interruptions, and supporting storm-readiness and emergency response efforts across the island.
The position is well-suited to seasoned vegetation management professionals with strong leadership skills and deep knowledge of line clearance safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
· Supervise daily operations of vegetation crews, ensuring productivity and quality
· Conduct hazard assessments, tailgate safety meetings, and crew briefings
· Plan trimming, removal, and clearance work based on job orders and site conditions
· Operate and oversee the use of chainsaws, chippers, bucket trucks, and climbing equipment
· Ensure safe clearance around energized lines and coordinate outages with utility operations
· Train and mentor crew members in best practices and safety standards
· Document completed work and report hazards, issues, or environmental concerns
· Provide on-call support for storm response and emergency clearance operations
Qualifications & Experience
· 5+ years of utility vegetation management experience, with at least 1–2 years in a leadership role
· Formal training in arboriculture, line clearance, or utility vegetation programs preferred
· Valid driver’s licence (CDL advantageous)
· Ability to work safely around energized lines and in challenging field environments
Skills & Attributes
· Strong leadership and crew management capability
· Thorough understanding of line clearance safety standards (e.g., ANSI Z133)
· Ability to interpret maps, job tickets, and safety documentation
· High level of physical fitness; comfortable climbing and operating heavy tools
· Decisive, safety-driven, and able to maintain productivity in demanding conditions
