Underground Foreman – Electrical Distribution

A major organisation within the Bahamian utilities and infrastructure sector is seeking an experienced Underground Foreman to lead crews responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of underground electrical distribution systems. This role is critical to ensuring the reliability, safety, and long-term resilience of the island’s underground infrastructure as part of an ongoing modernisation programme.

The ideal candidate is a skilled underground utility specialist with proven leadership experience and a strong commitment to safety, technical quality, and efficient field execution.

 

Key Responsibilities

·       Supervise underground construction and maintenance crews across multiple project types

·       Lead daily safety briefings and enforce all underground safety standards

·       Oversee installation of duct banks, manholes, cable trays, transformers, and underground components

·       Manage cable pulling, splicing, terminations, and testing activities

·       Coordinate crew schedules and ensure equipment readiness

·       Interpret blueprints, maps, and system drawings to plan and execute work

·       Respond to underground faults and oversee repair operations

·       Mentor and train junior team members

·       Complete required field documentation, inspections, and reports

 

Qualifications & Experience

·       6+ years of underground utility or electrical distribution experience

·       Minimum 2 years in a supervisory or foreman role

·       Strong knowledge of MV/LV cable systems, splicing, terminations, and testing

·       OSHA or underground safety training preferred

·       Valid driver’s licence (Class A CDL beneficial)

 

Skills & Attributes

·       Strong leadership and communication skills

·       High technical competence in underground electrical work

·       Ability to troubleshoot field issues and plan efficient work sequences

·       Hands-on, safety-driven approach to field operations

·       Ability to work in trenches, vaults, manholes, and confined spaces

·       Comfortable with extended hours, on-call duties, and emergency response
