Thatcher Associates is working with a long-established and highly respected construction contractor in the Channel Islands. Known for delivering landmark building projects across the islands, our client has a dedicated team made up largely of staff from the Channel Islands and the UK mainland.

They are now looking to strengthen their engineering capability with the appointment of a Company Engineer. This is a key position with responsibility for all engineering matters across the company’s projects on one of the major islands.

The Role

As Company Engineer, you will be the go-to person for all engineering-related queries, providing technical guidance and hands-on support across multiple live sites. Responsibilities include:

• Setting out for building, groundworks, drainage and frame construction

• Managing QA, compliance and engineering standards across projects

• Troubleshooting and resolving technical issues independently

• Supporting site teams with practical, hands-on engineering solutions

• Reporting directly to the Project Manager on each scheme

Background Required

This role requires someone who can work autonomously, manage their own workload, and operate confidently as the central engineering point of contact. It is envisaged that suitable candidates will bring:

• Several years’ experience as a Site Engineer

• Strong background in building projects, groundworks, drainage and structural works

• Ability to manage technical challenges while also remaining hands-on

• A relevant tertiary qualification (engineering or construction-related)
