About the Opportunity
Thatcher Associates is pleased to partner with our client to recruit a detail-oriented and motivated Junior Accountant to join their Finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career accounting professional to gain hands-on experience across a broad range of financial functions within a dynamic and growing organisation.

The successful candidate will support day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts receivable, reconciliations, financial reporting, and general ledger activities, while ensuring accuracy, compliance, and alignment with internal policies.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Finance & Accounting, the Junior Accountant will provide foundational accounting support across financial and operational areas. This role plays a key part in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting reporting cycles, and contributing to the overall efficiency of the Finance function.

 

Key Responsibilities

General Accounting

  • Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and adjustments

  • Perform monthly bank and account reconciliations

  • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements

  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis activities

  • Maintain accurate financial records and audit-ready documentation

 

Accounts Receivable & Billing

  • Prepare, review, and issue customer invoices

  • Record and reconcile customer payments in the ERP system

  • Monitor receivables ageing and assist with collections follow-ups

  • Manage and respond to accounts receivable inquiries in a timely manner

Cash Management & Reconciliations

  • Reconcile bank accounts and corporate credit card statements

  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies efficiently

  • Maintain organised reconciliation schedules and supporting documentation

Operational & Departmental Support

  • Maintain fixed asset registers and prepare depreciation schedules

  • Assist with project accounting, including cost tracking and reporting

  • Support accounts payable processing and vendor reconciliations

  • Contribute to internal controls, policies, and procedures

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on finance-related matters

  • Assist with audits and provide required financial documentation

  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Candidate Profile

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

  • 1–3 years of relevant accounting experience preferred

  • Progress toward a professional accounting designation (e.g., ACCA, CPA) is an asset

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy

  • Solid understanding of accounting principles and practices

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting/ERP systems

  • Strong organisational and time management skills

  • Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • High level of professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality
