Director of Facilities and Engineering

Our client is seeking an experienced Director of Facilities and Engineering to lead all engineering, maintenance, and infrastructure operations across their hospitality portfolio. This role ensures the safety, reliability, sustainability, and guest-ready condition of all properties while aligning facilities strategy with brand standards, operational excellence, and long-term asset value.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and develop property-level engineering and maintenance teams
• Establish engineering standards, SOPs, and preventive maintenance programs
• Partner with Operations, Asset Management, and Ownership to align facilities strategy with business goals
• Oversee building systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, life safety, and BMS
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal codes, including OSHA and fire/life safety regulations
• Manage capital planning, lifecycle forecasting, and asset replacement strategies
• Lead renovations, brand conversions, and capital improvement projects
•  Coordinate with architects, engineers, contractors, and ownership groups
• Ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget, and with minimal operational disruption

Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Facilities Management, or related field (or equivalent experience)

· 8–12+ years of progressive facilities/engineering leadership experience in hospitality (hotels, resorts, mixed-use)

· Strong knowledge of building systems, life safety, and regulatory compliance

· Proven experience managing large teams and multi-property portfolios

· Budgeting, capital planning, and vendor management expertise

· Professional certifications (PE, CFM, CHFM, LEED)

· Experience with luxury or full-service hospitality brands

· Strong background in sustainability and energy management systems

· Strategic thinker with hands-on operational expertise

· Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills

· Data-driven decision maker with financial acumen
