Construction Manager – Underground Utilities, Roads & Drainage

Thatcher Associates is recruiting on behalf of a long-established civil engineering and infrastructure contractor operating across the Caribbean. The business delivers major earthworks, underground utilities, road construction and drainage packages and is recognised for its strong delivery capability, experienced site teams, and extensive plant operations.

The Role

We are seeking an experienced Construction Manager with a strong background in underground utilities, road construction and drainage to lead complex civil infrastructure works. This is a senior, hands-on role, responsible for coordinating site delivery from early works through to final reinstatement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Overall management of underground utility works, including trenching, ducting, drainage and services installation

  • Delivery of road construction, pavement works and full reinstatement following utility installation

  • Oversight of drainage systems, including stormwater, culverts and associated civil works

  • Day-to-day leadership of site teams, supervisors, subcontractors and heavy plant operations

  • Ensuring works are delivered safely, on programme and within budget

  • Coordination with engineers, utilities providers and stakeholders to manage sequencing and interfaces

  • Maintaining high standards of quality control, health & safety and site compliance

  • Monitoring progress, reporting performance and resolving technical or logistical site challenges

Key Requirements

Essential:

  • Proven experience as a Construction Manager on underground utilities, road construction and drainage projects

  • Strong technical understanding of trenching, services coordination, pavements and civil reinstatement

  • Experience managing multiple crews, subcontractors and plant-intensive operations

  • Strong leadership, planning and problem-solving skills

  • Safety-led mindset with a structured, delivery-focused approach

Desirable:

  • Experience working in the Caribbean or similar climates

  • Background in large-scale infrastructure or public works projects
