About the Opportunity
We are recruiting on behalf of a progressive multi-disciplinary consultancy seeking an experienced Architectural Technician to join their growing design team. This is an excellent opportunity to work on diverse projects across residential, commercial, healthcare, education, and mixed-use developments.
You’ll be part of a collaborative environment working alongside architects, engineers, and project managers, contributing to all stages of projects from concept design through to completion.
The Role
As an Architectural Technician, you’ll play a key role in producing high-quality technical drawings, specifications, and construction documentation. You’ll work on exciting projects that make a real impact, supporting the design team with your technical expertise and attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities
Design & Technical Delivery:
- Produce detailed architectural drawings, specifications, and schedules using Revit and AutoCAD
- Develop technical design solutions from concept through to construction information
- Coordinate architectural drawings with structural, mechanical, and electrical disciplines
- Prepare planning and building control submission packages
- Conduct site surveys and produce accurate measured drawings
Project Coordination:
- Liaise with clients, consultants, contractors, and local authorities
- Attend design team meetings and site visits
- Review contractor drawings and respond to technical queries
- Support the delivery of projects on time and within budget
- Ensure compliance with Building Regulations and planning requirements
Quality & Standards:
- Maintain BIM standards and protocols across projects
- Check and coordinate drawings for accuracy and consistency
- Keep up to date with current building regulations and construction techniques
- Contribute to the development of office standards and drawing libraries
Essential Requirements
Qualifications & Experience:
- HNC/HND or degree in Architectural Technology or related discipline
- 2-5 years of experience in an architectural practice or consultancy environment
- Strong technical drawing and detailing skills
- Experience working on projects through all RIBA stages
Technical Skills:
- Proficient in Revit (essential)
- Strong AutoCAD skills
- Experience with BIM workflows and coordination
- Knowledge of UK Building Regulations and planning processes
- Familiar with construction detailing and specifications
Personal Attributes:
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work collaboratively within multi-disciplinary teams
- Self-motivated with good time management skills
- Problem-solving mindset and proactive approach
- Willingness to learn and develop professionally
Desirable Requirements:
- Working towards or achieved MCIAT (Member of the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists)
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator)
- Knowledge of SketchUp or other 3D modeling software
- Understanding of sustainable design principles and Passivhaus standards
- Experience with NBS specifications
- Site experience and understanding of construction processes
